If you aren't aware already, the nation's favorite lottery operator, the National Lottery, is upping the price of a Lotto ticket from the 5th October 2013.

After much protest and criticism the National Lottery have stuck to their original plan & will change how the game is structured as well as raising the prices.

While the cost of a lotto ticket hasn't increased since the National Lottery started 19 years ago, it has come as a shock to some players, including ourselves.

One disgruntled player was quick to voice his concerns through the National Lottery's Facebook page

Geordie Mick said: “It’s becoming a game for the rich. Poor people will never have a chance of bettering ourselves now.” 

Pauline Leather, another former Facebook fan added: “As a pensioner on a budget I can’t afford to be paying £2 a line. You’ve just lost a customer and should hang your heads in shame.”

It's not all doom and gloom!

£110 M EuroMillions Rollover Results - One Winner!

This Easter bank holiday proved to be one of the most momentous lottery weekends in the National Lottery’s history. FACT.

As noted, with no jackpot winner on the first two draws, it rolled over to the fantastic £112 M jackpot by the time Good Friday came around. Reports are in from around Europe and it looks like the winning ticket was bought in France. The lucky French winner beat odds of 116,531,000 to one and if they can find their ticket, will take home a whopping €132,486,744 euros.

We also saw another £4.39 million in cash prizes won on this EuroMillions draw. The draw results state that five tickets won a tidy £395,567 each by matching five main numbers and one lucky star. While nine tickets won £73,253 each by matching the five main numbers only.

Jump forward 6 months and the National Lottery, again, pulled out all the stops over the festive period. In the same vain as the Olympics super draw, 50 millionaires were guaranteed to be made in EuroMillions draws on Christmas and New Years Day, making 2012 one of the most prolific years for lottery giveaways.

It was also an amazing year for lottery syndicate players.

12 lucky bus drivers from Corby landed a windfall of £38,034,639, hitting the jackpot prize and walking away with over £3m each.
