National Lottery Lotto Price Hike Anger's Nation

Lottery players are threatening to quit the Lotto as Camelot warns the price of a Wednesday and Saturday Lotto ticket is to double.

News of the National Lottery hiking the price of a Lotto ticket has sent the public into a furore, prompting a media back lash that could be catastrophic for the UK’s biggest and most popular lottery.

The National Lottery’s Facebook page has been flooded with complaints. One user wrote ‘Ppl ant got much money ,jobs are goin all over place ! How can you justify puttin up 100% ? ?’ While another angry poster shouted ‘The people will hate you for taking their dream away in a recession when we need our dreams the most.’ Pauline Leather also commented on the Facebook page: 'As a pensioner on a budget I can't afford £2.00.'

While the National Lottery has got some cleaning up to do I think it’s worth looking into the details of the changes. While the price has doubled, Camelot stated this was due to public consultation and an improved service. Let’s see.

What's changed?
  • Guaranteed larger jackpots. Average jackpots on a Saturday bumped up to £5m and £2.5m on a Wednesday

  • If you match 3 balls you’ll now take home £25 rather than £10

  • A four ball match secures £100 rather than £60

  • Lotto Raffle – making 50 £20,000 winners per draw.

However, there are some serious draw backs

  • Prize pot for matching 5 numbers to drop by £500 to £1,000.

  • Matching 5 numbers and bonus ball will get you £50,000, half the previous amount.

The biggest peeve for National Lottery players is the doubling of the cost of the ticket. For the cash strapped public another increase in price is the last thing we want.

This is why I think it’s vital we start to think about alternative ways to play the lottery. Playing the lottery is about winning. It’s about being in the mix in hope of winning a cash prize. While winning the jackpot is near impossible; winning a cash prize is achievable if you play cleverly.

This is why playing in a lottery syndicate makes so much sense.

You can reduce the cost of playing each week whilst increasing your chances of winning a cash prize.

Let’s look at how playing as part of a LottoByText syndicate boosts your chances of winning a cash prize.

Each week you receive 10 Lotto Lines & 5 EuroMillions Lines. With the new Lotto changes in the Autumn you will now also get 10 Lotto Raffle chances on top of the usual 5 Millionaire Raffle chances. Therefore for only £4.50 per week, you’ll have 30 chances of winning a cash prize, every week.

So for just under a fiver, you’re chances of being a lottery winner have rocketed.

You had better get yourself signed up before you miss out on your 5 free lottery lines in the next draw.
