Whether you are one of the 40% of the population that doesn’t go in for the whole Valentine’s Day hype, or you are the other 60% which is going to splash out and make up the multi-billion pound industry, winning this treat could really change that night spent on the sofa.
What is the price of love?
Even though many couples try to avoid exchanging tacky stuffed animals or sexy underwear that probably wouldn’t fit, they are still going to spend money on expressing their feelings with a romantic gesture.
According to Daily Infographic, 45% of the UK population plan to purchase something for a loved one this Valentine’s day. Britons will also collectively spend a whopping £668 million on celebrating love this year, with men spending almost double what women would!
Some might say, Valentine’s Day is simply far too expensive for what the heart can afford.
And since love is all about dreaming, why not dream of a National Lottery win which can take you and your other half on a top romantic cruise destination such as the Seychelles, the Maldives or St. Lucia.
Saying it with flowers and dinner!
It seems that the one area we shouldn’t scrimp on (as cliche as it might be) is flowers. 70% of women would like to receive their lovely bunch at home and nearly 20% of both men and women would enjoy a luxury chocolate set.
Huffington post’s statistics showed an upward trend for flower buying, as in 2012 we bought 2,745,000 flower gifts! Interflora’s research suggests that more than 30% of us would spend February the 14th the classic way - dinner, chocolates, flowers and the company of the loved one.
